A preacher man stood before his people,
looked out over his congregation, waiting for the words.
With steady hands, he opened up the good book
then, with his eyes towards the skies, he offered up a prayer.
So, one by one,(shh...they`re prayin`) they grabbed on to each other,
bowed their heads to show respect, and waited for a sign.
A choir boy, don`t know what got in him,
jumped up screaming haleluja I have seen the light.
We have gathered, (come together) gathered here today.
Sisters and brothers, come now let us pray.
(Now, every week was the same, he`d get them all excited then he`d take them to the bank)
"Now my children, you all know the drill,
reach into your pockets because it`s time to pay the bills.
And pave that road that leads to my damnation
I mean, leads to your salvation" (you foolish congregation)
We have gathered, (come together) gathered here today,
and what a beautiful day.
You might say, (you might say)
he`s got it made.
Like taking candy from a baby.
(oh, how cliche)
What could you hope to achieve by being so naive?
Truth be told, he`s never had any truth to tell. (oh well)
Who am I to play Mr. Judgement day?
I mean seriously.
(choir)
Over mountains high, through valleys low, cross a river
you know I have been there
Over mountains high, through valleys low, I am coming home
come hell or high water, come rain or shine
I will see the light.
over mountains high...
